Nigeria will have two representatives in action, when the IAAF Diamond League resumes at the Muller Anniversary Games in London, on Saturday and Sunday (20 and 21).
Commonwealth Champion, Tobi Amusan will be the first when she takes on a respectable field four days after her jaw dropping personal best of 12.49s in Sotteville les Rouen, a performance that elevated her to third on the IAAF world list.
With the American big names out of the line-up preferring to focus on their National Championships next week, Amusan will aim for her first diamond league glory, but will face a stiff test from Jamaica’s Danielle Williams and European Champion, Elvira Herman.
Blessing Okagbare, produced outstanding performances by securing back to back diamond league victories in Rabat and Stanford.
However, last minute withdrawals in follow up meets including Lausanne and Monaco Diamond League, put a halt from seeing more brilliant performances from her.
She has been listed to compete in the 100m and If still on the start list come Sunday morning, Okagbare will gun for another season’s best performance, one which she’ll likely have to run under the 11s mark for the first time this year.
The stacked field she’ll be facing includes Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, Murielle Ahoure, Marie-Josee Ta Lou, home favourite, Dina Asher-Smith and Dutchwoman Dafne Schippers.
